Xavier 2, Fox Valley Lutheran 1
The Xavier Hawks pulled out a 2–1 road win over Fox Valley Lutheran in a tight conference matchup Thursday night.
Xavier scored once in each half to build a 2–0 lead before Fox Valley Lutheran’s JJ Minzlaff found the back of the net late in the second half to cut the deficit in half. Minzlaff’s goal was assisted by junior Ezra Schaser.
Despite a strong defensive effort, including 11 saves by senior goalkeeper Keaton Enter, the Foxes were unable to find an equalizer in the closing minutes. With the win, Xavier improves to 3-4 overall and 2-0 in the Bay Conference while Fox Valley Lutheran drops to
3-2-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
Shawano 2, Winneconne 0
The Hawks get back on track with a win against the Wolves and improve to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the Bay Conference and Winneconne falls to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in the Bay.
New London 4, Green Bay East 0
The Bulldogs defend the kennel once more and stay undefeated on the season and improve to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Bay and Green Bay East drops to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in the Bay Conference.
Other Area Action
Pulaski 3, Marshfield 1
The Pulaski Red Raiders went on the road and earned a 3–1 win over Marshfield in non-conference soccer action Thursday night.
Pulaski struck first in the opening half and added two more goals in the second to put the match out of reach. AJ Schenk, Walker Wozniak, and Alex Klopotic each scored for the Red Raiders, with Schenk also picking up an assist. Gunner Decker was credited with an assist as well.
Senior goalkeeper Jonah Drevs kept Marshfield’s attack quiet, allowing just one goal and helping Pulaski secure the victory. Pulaski improves to 3-1-3 and Marshfield drops to 1-3-2.
#9 Hortonville 2, Fond du Lac 0
The Hortonville Polar Bears defended their home field Thursday night, defeating Fond du Lac 2–0 in a conference matchup.
Senior Henry Whisler opened the scoring in the first half and junior Fenton Hirschi added a second goal in the second half to secure the win. Wesley Barker tallied an assist to help set up one of the goals.
On the defensive end, senior goalkeeper Grant Decker recorded a shutout, keeping Fond du Lac off the scoreboard for the full 80 minutes. Fond du Lac drops to 1-4-1 overall and 0-3-1 in FVA play. The Polar Bears remain undefeated at 7-0-1 and 3-0-1 in conference play.
