Shawano Police kept busy Thursday with a series of calls ranging from suspicious activity to welfare checks.
Just after midnight, officers responded to an apartment complex on East Richmond Street, where two people were found sleeping in the laundry room. The pair left on foot before police arrived, but extra patrols were requested for the area.
Later in the morning, police handled a 911 call near County Road B, a disabled vehicle by Shawano High School, and a medical assist on Engel Drive. Officers also responded to a report of garbage burning on South Lafayette Street and a separate call involving a possible scam on Sawyer Street.
One of the more serious cases came in the afternoon, when a resident on East Elizabeth Street reported the theft of a handgun. Police took the information and are investigating.
Other calls included a warrant pickup at the Sheriff’s Department, reckless driving near Main and Third Street, loud music complaints on Washington Street, and reports of suspicious activity at both Arlington Park and near East 5th Street.
Thursday night, officers conducted a traffic stop at Memorial Park that resulted in multiple citations, including operating without a license and no insurance. Police also made two welfare checks—one involving a resident concerned about speaking with crisis services, and another reporting possible drug use connected to bail violations.
Clintonville Police Reported the day began early with an alarm on South Main Street, followed a few hours later by a report of suspicious activity on West Madison Street and an open door on 15th Street. Officers conducted several traffic stops throughout the day, including on Green Tree Road, County Highway I, and North 12th Street, as well as downtown on South Main.
Police also handled multiple 911 calls, a citizen assist on Hughes Street, and a suspicious person complaint on Main Street. Later in the afternoon, officers conducted a welfare check on West Madison and responded to a threatening complaint on East First Street.
Animal nuisance issues were reported on East 12th, while extra patrols were requested around Memorial Circle, Pickerel Point Playground, and Picnic Point late in the evening.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office and Stockbridge-Munsee Police handled a full slate of calls Thursday.
Deputies responded early in the morning to a traffic hazard on Highway 29, where a tire was removed from the roadway. Later, they were called to a civil dispute on Hiawatha Court involving neighbor complaints about trash and barking dogs.
Mid-morning, officers investigated a suspicious situation near County Road M in Shawano, where a woman appeared to be in distress near storage units. Around the same time, fire crews in Cecil were assisted after a carbon monoxide detector alarm was reported at a home.
Reckless driving complaints kept deputies busy throughout the day, including reports from Aniwa, Marathon County, and Pulaski. Several traffic hazards were also cleared, including a semi and hay bales blocking Woodland Road.
Deputies conducted a welfare check after reports of people possibly living in a storage unit near John’s One Stop. A warrant attempt was also made in the town of Caroline, and jail staff requested help with a patient transfer after an inmate reportedly harmed himself.
In the evening, deputies assisted with a jail transport after a fight, investigated a suspicious vehicle repeatedly parked with lights shining into homes, and later checked on a woman crouched in a roadside ditch on Eagle Nest Lane.
Meanwhile, Stockbridge-Munsee Police handled a property standby in Gresham, a littering complaint near County Road A, and a stray animal call on Camp 14 Road.
