Shawano Police were kept busy Wednesday with a range of calls, from thefts and fraud to suspicious activity around town.
Officers responded to a theft at Bridge the Gap on East Green Bay Street after a missing backpack was recovered at a nearby clinic. Staff suspected it had been stolen but reported no other items missing.
At Walmart, police investigated a fraud complaint after a man said his phone was misused to make several cash transactions. The suspect was identified but no immediate arrests were reported.
Later in the day, officers were called to a hit-and-run on South Lincoln Street. A driver reported their side mirror was struck, and video evidence was provided to investigators.
There was also a burglary reported on West Picnic Street. The homeowner told police someone had forced their way inside by removing an air conditioner. The house was left ransacked.
Other calls included suspicious behavior at the NWTC campus, multiple welfare checks, and reports of barking dogs at an East Center Street apartment. Police also assisted with a gas leak on East Division Street, working alongside WE Energies and Frontier.
Clintonville Police handled a variety of calls on Wednesday.
The day started shortly after 2 a.m. with a report of a suspicious vehicle on West Madison Street, followed by another suspicious person complaint on Modoc Street. Officers also responded to a noise complaint on East First Street.
Later in the morning, police assisted another agency on West Green Tree Road, handled a parking enforcement issue on South Clinton Avenue, and conducted a traffic stop on Harriet Street. A school extra patrol was also completed on Green Tree Road.
Other calls included a reported tobacco violation, a dispute between neighbors on East First Street, and a trespassing complaint on McKinley Avenue.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office responded to a variety of calls on Wednesday, September 10th.
Deputies were called to several traffic incidents, including crashes on County Road G and along Highway 29. No major injuries were reported, but both crashes caused delays while vehicles were cleared.
In Wittenberg, deputies investigated a disorderly conduct complaint, while in the town of Richmond, a welfare check was requested after concerns about a resident’s wellbeing.
The day also included animal complaints, suspicious activity reports, and requests for agency assistance across the county. Deputies were dispatched to help local police departments as well as first responders handling medical emergencies.
Later in the evening, a reckless driving complaint came in near Highway 45, and deputies responded to a separate report of property damage in the county’s eastern region.
