KESHENA, WI – A former Keshena man has been sentenced to prison for his role in a deadly crash that happened during a police chase last fall.
Desmond L. Waukau Jr., 22, was sentenced to three and a half years in prison after being convicted of involuntary manslaughter.
Court records show the crash occurred on September 20, 2024, on the Menominee Indian Reservation. Investigators say Waukau attempted to flee from a marked police vehicle at a high rate of speed while under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance.
Waukau eventually lost control of the vehicle and crashed, killing his passenger.
