NEW LONDON, WI – The New London School District is joining schools across the area in marking September as Attendance Awareness Month, shining a spotlight on the importance of keeping students in the classroom.
District Administrator Scott Bleck says strong attendance lays the groundwork for student success. “Being in school is the first step to learning, educating, understanding, having the opportunity to take in whatever those daily lessons are, meeting those expectations,” Bleck said.
He noted that several neighboring communities are also recognizing September as Attendance Awareness Month, underscoring a shared commitment to keeping students on track.
Teachers in New London are prepared to help students stay engaged and emphasize the importance of showing up every day. “Our discussion has been to empower staff to continually promote great attendance for our students and families,” Bleck added.
The City of New London will officially recognize Attendance Awareness Month during its council meeting on September 16th, reinforcing the district’s message and encouraging families to make attendance a top priority.
