KESHENA, WI- The Menominee Nation football team has canceled the rest of its varsity schedule following a lopsided loss to Tri-County last week.
The Eagles fell 94-0 in that game, with the Penguins scoring five defensive touchdowns, two on fumble returns and three on interceptions. School officials announced this week that the varsity season will not continue.
“We have a lot of young kids and this is what we feel is best to do,” said Athletic Director James Oshkeshequoam.
The Eagles are in contact with the teams that remain on their schedule to figure out the plan moving forward. Oshkeshequoam says that could result in games on Mondays or Fridays.
The Eagles were scheduled to play Marion/Tigerton on Friday.
