The Hortonville Polar Bears turned in a commanding performance Saturday, rolling to an 8-0 shutout win over Green Bay East in non-conference boys soccer action.
Junior forward Evan Langkan powered the Polar Bears’ offense with a hat trick, scoring three goals and adding two assists for an eight-point outing. Junior Jacob Plutz was equally dangerous, finding the net twice while also setting up a goal.
Hortonville spread the scoring across its roster, with seniors Elliot Vedder and juniors Fenton Hirschi and Roman Glad each tallying once. Glad also chipped in two assists, while Hirschi and Thomas Grasse each added one helper.
The Polar Bears struck early and often, putting up all eight goals in the first half before coasting after the break. Senior goalkeeper Grant Decker had a quiet night between the posts, facing no shots on goal while recording the clean sheet.
#7 Hortonville 10, Manitowoc Lincoln 0
The Hortonville Polar Bears continued their offensive surge Saturday, cruising past Manitowoc Lincoln in a 10-0 shutout a neutral-site non-conference match.
Junior Roman Glad led the way with a hat trick, scoring three goals to pace a balanced Hortonville attack. Junior Noah Rindt added two goals and one assist, while junior Jacob Plutz filled the stat sheet with a goal and three assists.
The Polar Bears wasted little time, exploding for nine first-half goals before finishing the match with one more in the second half. Seniors Elliot Vedder, Cade Mansfield, and Henry Whisler each found the net, while junior Thomas Grasse rounded out the scoring with a goal and an assist. Sophomore Andrew Barker and junior Fenton Hirschi also chipped in assists.
Defensively, Hortonville was once again untested. Senior goalkeeper Grant Decker didn’t face a single shot on goal but still recorded the clean sheet, his second straight.
The Polar Bears record now stands at 5-0-1.
#6 Kohler 1, Xavier 0
The Xavier Hawks put together a gritty defensive effort on Saturday but came up just short, falling 1-0 to Kohler in a non-conference matchup.
The Hawks kept the match scoreless through the first half, holding off multiple Kohler pushes with a strong backline performance and steady goalkeeping. Xavier also generated scoring opportunities of its own but couldn’t find the finishing touch in the attacking third.
The difference came midway through the second half when Kohler’s Diego Cardenas netted the lone goal of the contest. Despite pushing forward late in search of the equalizer, Xavier was unable to break through against a tight Blue Bombers defense.
The Hawks drop to 1-4 on the season.
