GILLETT, WI- A familiar family-owned name in funeral service is expanding. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home, which has served the Suring community since 1983, has now opened a second location at 108 East Main Street in Gillett, offering local families more convenience while continuing its tradition of personal care.
Owner and Funeral Director Brent Gruetzmacher said the expansion felt natural, as his family has strong ties to both communities. “We’ve served the community from Suring for years and made a lot of friends,” he said. “Now it’s nice to be in town and have a facility to help everyone directly here in Gillett.”
The open house celebration for the new facility featured desserts, snacks, coffee, and community giveaways. Guests had the chance to tour the newly remodeled building, meet staff, and enjoy a ribbon cutting.
Among the staff is funeral director Mandalyn Christensen who has been part of the business for nearly a decade. Mandolin, originally from Gillett, said her interest in funeral service began at a young age and grew stronger after her aunt’s passing. “I paid more attention to what a funeral director does, and it just really interested me,” she explained. After completing mortuary school and an apprenticeship, she has now been licensed for five years.
For both Mandolin and the family, the focus is on being local and personal. “We like to provide really personal service,” she said. “We’re local people, serving our neighbors.”
For the owners, funeral service has always been a way of life. “I grew up in the business,” Gruetzmacher added. “I started mowing the lawn and washing cars around the funeral home. I don’t really know anything else.”
With two locations, Suring and now Gillett, the Gruetzmacher Funeral Home is positioned to continue its long tradition of compassionate service for families in the area.
