Shawano police responded to a variety of calls on Monday. Just after midnight, officers conducted a welfare check at a home on South Union Street after a fall detection alert was triggered. Fortunately, it turned out to be a false alarm—the resident had simply dropped her medical alert pendant. Later in the morning, police assisted Probation and Parole officers with a warrant attempt on South Washington Street. Around 11 a.m., officers were called to Madison Way Estates for a barking and aggressive dog. That same hour, a woman was reported panhandling outside the Walmart on East Green Bay Street, holding a sign saying she was homeless with two children. In the afternoon, officers responded to Memorial Park where a child had become stuck in a baby swing. They were safely freed. Police also intervened in a civil dispute on South Bartlett Street, where a neighbor had placed barricades made of wood and garbage cans in the roadway. A welfare check was later conducted on an elderly man in a wheelchair near County Road B. Officers confirmed he was safe. In the evening, officers assisted with a reckless driving report involving a man allegedly drinking while driving a minivan with children inside near South Main Street. Finally, police handled a disturbance on South Washington Street, where a woman reported verbal abuse from her boyfriend.
Clintonville police handled 23 incidents on Monday. The day included eight traffic stops across the city, along with several extra patrols and three welfare checks. Officers also responded to two disorderly conduct calls, one of them on South Main Street shortly before 2 a.m. In addition, police investigated a case of animal neglect and handled an animal problem report later in the day. Other calls included a lost-and-found item, a citizen assist, and even a controlled burn that was checked out.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office responded to 35 incidents on Monday. Deputies started the day with a general assist in Shawano, where a man was given a ride home. Later that morning, they handled a disabled vehicle on County Road A, and investigated a property-damage crash near Cecil. Deputies also looked into a harassment complaint on Capitol Drive in Shawano, and fielded multiple 911 hang-up calls, including one from a boater who accidentally dialed while boarding. Around midday, officers broke up a disturbance in Marion involving neighbors, assisted with a vehicle lockout in Shawano, and checked on a suspicious pickup truck seen taking photos on Frailing Road. Other calls included a traffic hazard on Highway 29, where a pallet was reported in the roadway, and additional disabled vehicles throughout the county. In the evening, deputies conducted a welfare check for a Canadian caller concerned about family members in Shawano and addressed two separate animal complaints—one about a neighbor’s dog and another involving livestock. The day ended with two reckless driving reports: one in Clintonville, where neighbors complained about dirt bikes, and another on Highway 29 involving a trailer being towed without lights. The Sheriff’s Office reports all cases were handled without serious injuries.
