A huge second half from the Marion/Tigerton Thundercatz proved to be the difference Friday night as they pulled away for a upset win,
31-18 over Almond-Bancroft.
After trailing 12-8 at halftime, the Thundercatz (1-1) erupted for 16 points in the third quarter and added another score in the fourth to seal the victory. Junior running back Braylon Mielke carried the load, rushing 24 times for 272 yards and two touchdowns, including a long 88-yard sprint that broke the game open.
The Thundercatz ground game piled up 364 rushing yards on 47 attempts, while the defense forced two interceptions and tallied five tackles for loss. Senior Sam Anhueser anchored the defensive effort with 13.5 tackles and two stops behind the line.
Almond-Bancroft (1-1) hung tough early, scoring in each of the first two quarters to take the halftime lead. The Eagles added another touchdown late in the fourth, but Marion/Tigerton’s second-half surge proved too much to overcome.
Sevastopol 50, Gillett 0
Senior quarterback Logan Schuh turned in a monster performance as Sevastopol rolled to a 50-0 road win over Gillett on Friday night.
Schuh powered the Pioneers’ offense both through the air and on the ground, finishing with 305 passing yards and two touchdowns while adding 210 rushing yards and three more scores. Sevastopol (2-0) set the tone early, jumping out to a 22-0 lead in the first quarter and never looking back.
The Pioneers piled up 585 yards of total offense while holding the Tigers (0-2) without a single yard. Bo Tanck provided the big-play threat in the passing game, catching four passes for 127 yards and a touchdown.
On defense, Ray Johnson anchored a stifling effort with seven tackles and three tackles for loss. The Pioneers recorded eight tackles behind the line of scrimmage and an interception while limiting Gillett to no first downs.
Sevastopol led 36-0 at halftime and 44-0 entering the fourth before capping the shutout with a final score in the closing minutes.
#5 Newman Catholic 50, Wild Rose 8
Senior quarterback Quincy Pfender turned in a near-perfect night as Newman Catholic rolled to a 50-8 win over Wild Rose on Friday.
Pfender showed his dual-threat ability from the opening snap, completing 11 of 13 passes for 161 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for 96 yards and two more scores on just 11 carries. He accounted for five total touchdowns as the Fighting Cardinals raced out to a 22-0 first-quarter lead and never looked back.
Junior Michael Fox was Pfender’s top target, hauling in three passes for 65 yards and a touchdown, while senior Damien Puent anchored the defense with five tackles, including four for loss. Newman’s defense swarmed all night, finishing with eight tackles for loss, three fumble recoveries, and two interceptions.
Wild Rose (0-2) was held without any offensive production until the fourth quarter, when the Wildcats broke through for their lone score to avoid the shutout.
Newman Catholic (2-0) has now outscored its opponents 83-8 through two games and looks like an early-season force in the 8-player ranks.

Fox Valley Lutheran 35, Denmark 0
Fox Valley Lutheran made a statement Friday night, using an explosive first half to power past Denmark 35-0 and improve to 2-0 on the season.
The Foxes struck early and often, building a 7-0 lead in the first quarter before erupting for 21 points in the second to take full control with a 28-0 halftime advantage. They added another touchdown in the third and cruised the rest of the way.
Senior quarterback Gabe Heiges was sharp through the air, completing 9 of 14 passes for 158 yards and four touchdowns. Three different Foxes found the end zone on the receiving end, highlighted by junior Jacoby Dobberstein’s four-catch, 107-yard performance that included a 63-yard scoring strike.
On the ground, senior Blessings Kapande provided balance, rushing for 141 yards on just 11 carries with a touchdown.
The Fox Valley Lutheran defense dominated as well, forcing two interceptions and recording five tackles for loss. Senior Ian Holmes led the unit with 6.5 tackles.
Denmark (1-1) moved the ball at times behind junior quarterback Jayden Binsfeld (137 yards passing) and senior Steven Kielpikowski (51 rushing yards, five tackles), but the Vikings couldn’t break through against a stout Foxes defense.
#7 Weyauwega-Fremont 36, #5 Iola-Scandinavia 14
Weyauwega-Fremont used a dominant second quarter to take control and never looked back, defeating Iola-Scandinavia 36-14 on Friday night.
The teams traded touchdowns in the first quarter, but the Warhawks (2-0) exploded for 22 points in the second to grab a 28-6 halftime lead. They extended the margin to 36-6 in the third before the Thunderbirds (1-1) tacked on a late score in the fourth.
Junior quarterback Carter Birdyshaw led the offense efficiently, throwing for 96 yards and two touchdowns. Senior Bryce Magdanz was the big-play target, hauling in two passes for 74 yards and both scores. On the ground, senior Dawson Lind powered the rushing attack, finishing with 88 yards and a touchdown on nine carries.
The Warhawks ran for 269 yards as a team, averaging more than eight yards per carry. Their defense also came up big, forcing a turnover, recording three tackles for loss, and blocking a kick. Senior Jared Bohringer paced the unit with seven tackles.
Menasha 41, #6 Mosinee 21
Junior quarterback Paul Schmolinske accounted for six touchdowns to lead Menasha to a 41-21 victory upset over Mosinee on Friday night.
The Bluejays (1-1) broke open a close game in the second quarter, scoring 14 unanswered points to take a 21-7 halftime lead. They added two more scores in the second half to secure their first win of the season after falling to Plymouth in Week 1.
Schmolinske was nearly unstoppable, completing 8 of 9 passes for 80 yards and two touchdowns while rushing 21 times for 122 yards and four more scores. Junior receiver Tayden Wilke was his top target, catching two passes for 51 yards and both receiving TDs.
Mosinee (1-1) was led by senior quarterback Treve Stoffel, who threw for 128 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for 48 yards and another score. Senior Jerrick Seeger hauled in five catches for 39 yards to lead the receiving corps.
Despite a strong opening drive and three total touchdowns from Stoffel, the Indians couldn’t slow down Menasha’s balanced attack.
Little Chute 27, New London 12
A strong ground game and a big fourth quarter helped Little Chute pull away for a 27-12 win over New London on Friday night.
The Mustangs (1-1) struck first in the opening quarter, but the Bulldogs tied it up at 6-6 before halftime. After a tight third quarter, Little Chute broke the game open in the fourth, outscoring New London 14-6 to secure its first victory of the season.
Junior quarterback Jaden Hermsen led the way, completing all four of his passes for 58 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for 66 yards and two more scores. Fellow junior Reece Joten carried the load on the ground, rushing 23 times for 96 yards and a touchdown. Junior Trevor Verhagen made his presence felt on both sides, hauling in all four receptions for 58 yards and a TD while adding seven tackles and three tackles for loss on defense.
For New London (0-2), senior quarterback Dane Meyer did it all, passing for 113 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for 94 yards and another score. Senior Brett Marquardt led the receiving corps with 57 yards on two catches.
Pulaski 42, Hortonville 7
The Red Raiders used a dominant ground game and a career performance from junior quarterback Bohdan Schmidt to power past Hortonville 42-7 on Friday night.
Schmidt was nearly unstoppable, rushing for 121 yards and two touchdowns on just nine carries while also throwing for 84 yards and two scores on 4-of-5 passing. He found Eli Brancefield and Trentyn Linz for touchdown strikes as Pulaski built a 28-0 halftime lead.
Pulaski piled up 239 rushing yards as a team and scored six total touchdowns, including a back-breaking 62-yard run to open the third quarter.
Hortonville’s lone bright spot came in the fourth quarter when junior quarterback AJ Pheifer connected with a receiver for a touchdown pass. Pheifer finished with 173 yards through the air on 12-of-22 passing, while senior Isaac Behnke led the Polar Bears with 93 receiving yards.
#10 Freedom 20, Waupaca 13
Freedom survived a scare from the Comets, knocking off Waupaca 20-13 on Friday night.
Sophomore quarterback Owen Henkel led the way for Freedom, throwing for 193 yards on 14-of-23 passing and adding a rushing touchdown. Senior Nixon Heinke provided the power on the ground, carrying 21 times for 63 yards and a touchdown, while senior receiver Quinn Brennenstuhl hauled in five catches for 69 yards.
On the defensive side, Freedom’s front made life miserable for Waupaca’s offense. Senior Gage Strelka was everywhere, tallying nine tackles, three tackles for loss, and two sacks, helping the Irish rack up eight total sacks on the night.
Waupaca’s senior quarterback Austin Adamczak battled to keep the Comets in it, throwing for 158 yards and rushing for a touchdown. Junior receiver Westen Lauritzen broke out with a big night, catching five passes for 108 yards, while senior Ryder Vergauwen paced the defense with 9.5 tackles.
Freedom’s kicker, Nolan Phillips went a perfect 2-for-2 on field goals, including a long of 33 yards, while Waupaca’s Jacob Durrant came up empty on its lone attempt.
#3 West De Pere 33, #7 Kaukauna 9
The third-ranked West De Pere Phantoms continued their strong start to the 2025 season, pulling away in the second half to defeat Kaukauna 33-9 on Friday night.
After a slow first half that saw the Phantoms clinging to a 7-2 lead at the break, West De Pere found its rhythm after halftime. The Phantoms outscored Kaukauna 26-7 over the final two quarters, sealing their second straight win to open the season.
Kaukauna hung tough early, taking advantage of a defensive stand and a safety in the first quarter to trail just 7-2. The Ghosts cut the deficit to 21-9 in the third quarter but couldn’t keep pace with West De Pere’s balanced attack and second-half surge.
Ryan Carrel led the Kaukauna offense, throwing for 114 yards on 11 completions while adding 25 yards on the ground. His favorite target, Kavanaugh Weyenberg, hauled in 8 passes for 109 yards to keep the Ghosts moving. Defensively, Hunter Meyers anchored the unit with 10 tackles, including 2 tackles for loss.
#2 Winneconne 52, Omro 6
The Wolves wasted no time putting the game away Friday night, exploding for 28 points in the first quarter on their way to a 52-6 rout of Omro.
Quarterback Brody Schaffer was sharp and efficient, completing 7 of 10 passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns while also adding a rushing score. Senior running back Bryce Jones showed his big-play ability with five carries for 83 yards and a touchdown, averaging over 16 yards per carry.
The highlight of the night came on a long strike to Karter Hawthorne, who turned his lone reception into an 87-yard touchdown.
Defensively, Hudson Samolinski helped set the tone with 3.5 tackles, two tackles for loss, and an interception. The Wolves’ defense forced two turnovers and held Omro scoreless outside of the second quarter.
Luxemburg-Casco 35, Xavier 7
Luxemburg-Casco stayed unbeaten with a convincing 35-7 road win over Xavier on Friday night, using a balanced offensive attack and a tough defense to seize control early.
The Spartans (2-0) set the tone in the first half, building a 21-0 halftime lead behind strong play from their senior leaders. Quarterback Eli Derenne was sharp, completing 11 of 14 passes for 150 yards and a touchdown, while senior running back Cameron Dorner carried the ground game with 147 rushing yards and two scores on 14 carries.
Senior wideout Mason Trimberger provided the big-play spark, hauling in seven catches for 114 yards and a touchdown, including a 49-yard scoring strike in the second quarter.
Defensively, senior Brayden Loritz anchored the Spartans with eight tackles and two tackles for loss, as Luxemburg-Casco held Xavier (1-1) scoreless until the final quarter.
The Hawks’ lone highlight came on a 69-yard touchdown run by sophomore Ben Kappell, who finished with 70 yards on five carries. Junior linebacker Alexander Marg paced Xavier defensively with 5.5 tackles.
Luxemburg-Casco outgained Xavier through the air 150-0, while also dominating special teams with three punt returns for 29 yards.
#2 Arrowhead 16, #5 Neenah 13
Special teams proved to be the difference Friday night as No. 2 Arrowhead held off No. 5 Neenah for a 16-13 victory in a clash of state-ranked programs.
The Warhawks got three field goals from kicker Ryan O’Donnell, including a 47-yarder, to complement a steady night from quarterback Nolan Hanson, who went 12-for-15 passing for 162 yards and a touchdown. Hanson’s scoring strike went to Logan Crowley, who finished with three catches for 74 yards.
Neenah leaned heavily on junior quarterback Ashton VanBeek, who did it all for the Rockets. VanBeek threw for 130 yards and a touchdown, an 80-yard strike to Cooper Sieck, while also rushing for 120 yards on 21 carries. Despite his efforts, Neenah was limited to just a field goal after halftime.
Arrowhead’s defense sealed the win late, highlighted by Brendan Foley’s 10.5 tackles and a key interception that stopped a Neenah drive.
#2 Notre Dame Academy 42, De Pere 30
Junior running back Kingston Allen delivered a performance for the ages, rushing for 348 yards and five touchdowns to power Notre Dame Academy to a 42-30 win over De Pere on Friday night.
After falling behind 7-0 in the first quarter, the Tritons roared back with 14 points in the second to grab a halftime lead. De Pere struck back in the third quarter behind senior quarterback Holden Woodfill, who threw for 160 yards and three touchdowns, including a 65-yard strike to junior Max Goebel.
But every time the Redbirds closed the gap, Allen had an answer. The junior carried the ball 37 times, including an electrifying 82-yard touchdown run in the second half that gave Notre Dame breathing room. Senior Jack Warden anchored the defense with 9.5 tackles and two tackles for loss, while the Tritons also scored on a pick-six to put the game out of reach.
De Pere (1-1) put up plenty of offense through the air, 282 total passing yards and four touchdowns, but couldn’t contain Allen’s dominance on the ground. Senior Dante Matta added 100 rushing yards for the Redbirds, and senior Hayden Cornell led the defense with 8.5 tackles.
Green Bay Preble 34, Appleton East 7
Green Bay Preble exploded for 34 points to pull away from Appleton East for a 34-7 victory Friday night.
Senior running back Aiden Bruce was the workhorse for the Hornets, carrying the ball 42 times for 219 yards and two touchdowns. Junior quarterback Harrison Selk added balance, completing 11 of 14 passes for 118 yards and a touchdown while also scoring on the ground. Senior Owen Tompkins was Selk’s top target, catching four passes for 48 yards.
Preble’s defense also stepped up, intercepting two passes and holding East scoreless until the fourth quarter. Senior Caleb Jackson led the way with nine tackles.
For Appleton East (1-1), junior Ayden Kruse provided the lone score on a rushing touchdown and finished with 70 yards on 13 carries. Senior quarterback Alex Thompson threw for 100 yards but was picked off twice, while senior Birk Kozlowicz turned in a strong defensive performance with 14 tackles.
St. Mary Catholic 20, Manawa 0
Saint Mary Catholic rode a balanced effort on both sides of the ball to shut out Manawa 20-0 on Friday night, giving the Zephyrs their first win of the season.
Senior quarterback Maddox Dwyer paced the offense with 100 passing yards and a touchdown on 8-of-15 completions. Senior running back Elliot Reichenbacher chipped in 58 rushing yards on 10 carries and scored once on the ground. Junior Tarver Trinkner was the top receiving threat, catching six passes for 49 yards.
Defensively, sophomore George Voss anchored the Zephyrs with seven tackles and an interception, part of a three-pick night for the SMC secondary. The defense consistently set the tone, piling up 7.5 tackles for loss and holding the Wolves to just 92 rushing yards on 35 attempts.
For Manawa (0-2), sophomore quarterback Carson Stroud completed 10 of 18 passes for 87 yards but was intercepted three times. Freshman Theron Schuelke led the ground game with 25 rushing yards, while junior Carter Barrington had two catches for 34 yards. Senior Jayden Bessette led the Wolves’ defense with 5.5 tackles.
Saint Mary Catholic (1-1) took control in the second quarter and never let go, building a 7-0 halftime lead before adding scores in each of the final two periods. Manawa, meanwhile, has now been held scoreless in back-to-back games.
Southern Door 17, Shiocton 14
The Southern Door Eagles leaned on timely defense and a late field goal to secure a hard-fought 17-14 win over Shiocton on Friday night.
Junior quarterback Caleb Delwiche led the way for Southern Door, throwing for 63 yards and a touchdown, while sophomore Raymond Paye powered the ground game with 69 rushing yards on 16 carries. Senior receiver Lauden Berg provided the biggest play of the night through the air, catching four passes for 57 yards and a touchdown.
After trailing 7-0 at halftime, Shiocton clawed back in the second half behind quarterback Kyle Bergsbaken, who accounted for both Chiefs touchdowns, one through the air to Brett Singler (6 catches, 81 yards) and another on the ground. Bergsbaken finished 14-of-19 passing for 108 yards.
But Southern Door’s defense came up clutch, intercepting three passes and getting 14 tackles from junior Lance Veeser. A fourth-quarter field goal sealed the win for the Eagles.
Seymour 28, Two Rivers 8
Senior quarterback Cayden Staffeldt delivered a dominant all-around performance as Seymour picked up its first win of the season with a 28-8 victory over Two Rivers on Friday night.
Staffeldt accounted for all four of the Thunder’s touchdowns, throwing for 125 yards and two scores while rushing for 53 yards and two more TDs. He connected with his brother, Carson Staffeldt, on a 67-yard strike in the second quarter that gave Seymour a 14-0 lead.
Two Rivers (0-2) battled back behind senior running back Max Matthias, who capped a drive with a 1-yard touchdown run and added the two-point conversion to cut the deficit to 14-8 just before halftime. Matthias also led the Purple Raiders defensively with eight tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss.
But Seymour (1-1) controlled the second half, leaning on its defense and pass rush to put the game away. Senior Xavier Salzman anchored the effort with 88 rushing yards on 18 carries while also dominating on defense, finishing with eight tackles, five tackles for loss, and four sacks.
The Thunder outgained Two Rivers 313-144 and forced two interceptions, holding the Purple Raiders scoreless after the break.
