SHAWANO, WI – The Shawano County Humane Society is celebrating a major milestone in its mission to find homes for animals in need.
At the start of the year, the shelter set a goal of 1,000 adoptions in 2025. So far, they’ve placed 314 cats and 261 dogs into new homes, a total of 575 adoptions, already more than halfway to their goal.
Volunteer and sponsor Chris Tetting says the progress is a result of tireless dedication. “We have such a dedicated team,” Tetting said. “They are working nonstop to ensure that every animal receives the best care, which they all deserve. Our volunteers are such a crucial part.”
The Humane Society credits its success not only to staff and volunteers but also to strong partnerships with Clintonville Hometown Vets and the UW-Madison Shelter Medicine Program. These collaborations provide vital support for animal health and adoption readiness.
With several months left in the year, the shelter remains optimistic about reaching, and possibly surpassing, the 1,000-adoption mark.
