SHAWANO, WI – Students in the Shawano School District will see an earlier start to the school day and a shortened school year as part of adjustments tied to the district’s referendum project.
Associate Principal Deanna Arrowood explained that the changes will shift the end of the academic year forward. “Our last day of school will actually be Thursday, May 21,” Arrowood said. “So that helps shorten that up, which also bumps graduation up a week. So graduation this year will actually be May 15.”
Arrowood noted that starting earlier allows the district to compress the calendar and accommodate upcoming construction work funded by the voter-approved referendum.
The adjustments mean Shawano students will be in class a bit sooner in the mornings, but will also wrap up the school year earlier than usual.
