
Norma Gertrude Martzke, age 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025, with family by her side. She was born on November 16th, 1932, in the Town of Richmond to the late Henry and Viola (Korth) Buettner. She was a lifelong member of St. Jakobi Church, and was baptized December 11th, 1932, and confirmed April 14th, 1946. She attended Forest School and Shawano High School. On October 22nd, 1949, she was united in marriage to Eldor Martzke at St. Jakobi. The couple spent a wonderful 69 years together before Eldor’s passing in 2019. Together they farmed the Martzke Homestead in the Town of Richmond and raised their family. Norma had a strong work ethic and conquered numerous tasks during her lifetime. She was devoted to her family and always put them first. Norma was also employed at Evergreen Nursing Home for 25 years and Birch Hill for 2 years.
Norma enjoyed bowling, gardening, baking, spending time with family and friends, and watching her grandkids participate in sports. Norma also loved watching the Green Bay Packers, her family knew if the Packers were losing there would always be a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies waiting.
Norma is survived by her daughter, Pam (Rick) Sperberg; daughter-in-law, Roxy Martzke; her grandchildren, Jason (Käryn) Martzke of Fall Creek, Craig (Brandi) Sperberg of Shawano and Amber (Rick Habeck) Riesenberg of Shawano; great-grandchildren, Nolan, Cameron, and Jaelyn Martzke, Emma Jones, Brock, Baylee, and Brea Sperberg; Brett, Barric, and Braxton Riesenberg; her brothers Marvin and Will (Virginia) Buettner; sister Betty Booras and sister-in-law Marcia Buettner. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Norma is preceded in death by her husband, Eldor; her parents Henry and Viola Buettner; her father and mother-in-law, Theodore and Alma Martzke; two sons, James and Michael Martzke; one daughter-in-law Karen (Gumaer) Martzke; three brothers, John, Roger, and Dan Buettner; four brothers-in-law, Willard, Kenneth and Vernon Martzke and Lou Booras; and five sisters-in-law, Elfrieda and Judy Buettner, Gwen, Donna and Rosie Martzke.
Funeral services for Norma will be held on Friday, August 29th, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. Jakobi Lutheran Church with Rev. Travis Kleinschmidt officiating. Visitation will begin at the church starting at 9:30 am on Friday until the time of service. Burial will be held in the church cemetery following services. A memorial fund has been established. Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting the family with services.
