WILD ROSE, WI – The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death that occurred in Wild Rose on Wednesday, Aug. 6, after a police pursuit ended in tragedy.
According to authorities, Waushara County deputies attempted to make contact with an individual in Wautoma who was believed to be suicidal. Deputies later spotted the person driving on County Trunk Highway H near Wild Rose and attempted a traffic stop to check on their welfare.
The driver did not stop, continuing northbound on State Highway 22 through Wild Rose before pulling into a parking lot near the intersection of State Highway 22 and County Trunk A. There, the individual died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Deputies attempted life-saving measures until local EMS arrived, but efforts were unsuccessful.
The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
