OCONTO COUNTY, WI – Fair season is back, and Oconto County is getting an early start on the festivities. While the main Oconto County Youth Fair officially opens Monday, August 18, Fair Secretary Cindy Arndt says the excitement begins this weekend with several pre-fair events. On Saturday, August 16, visitors can enjoy the small animal and caged bird show, the horse show, and the cat and dog show.
Alongside the animals, food, and rides, this year’s fair is putting an extra emphasis on young people. Fairest of the Fair Grace Seefeldt says promoting youth involvement is her top priority. “I’m a big promoter of agriculture and the youth and the youth is our number one priority always. And if there’s a little kid that doesn’t think they did well on their project, I am the first one there to be like, no, you worked amazing,” Seefeldt said.
The Oconto County Youth Fair runs August 18–23, with a full schedule of events including cake auctions, tractor pulls, and magic shows. Organizers say it’s a celebration of agriculture, community spirit, and the accomplishments of local youth.
