The Marion/Tigerton Thundercatz enter the 2025 season confident they can climb to the top of the Central Wisconsin Eight-Man Conference standings. Coming off a 4–5 finish last year, head coach Micah Schwantes believes his veteran-heavy roster has the tools to contend. “With the seniors and upperclassmen we have, I think we can really push for the top of the conference this year,” Schwantes said. “We’ve got a lot of returners in key positions, and if they can put it together, we have that capability.”
The Thundercatz co-op, now in its sixth season, brings together athletes from Marion and Tigerton high schools. While the two communities are rivals in other sports, Schwantes says football has united them under a single identity. “When it’s football, we’re the Thundercatz, we’re not Marion Tigers or Tigerton Tigers. We are one team,” he said. That unity is reflected in the team’s motto this year: Family. Schwantes says it’s more than just a word, it’s printed on all their team gear and reinforced at every practice.
Last year’s middle-of-the-pack finish has the Thundercatz motivated to improve, and their depth of returning players gives them an edge. With experience across the board, leadership from the senior class, and a clear team-first culture, Marion/Tigerton is poised for a competitive run.
The 2025 campaign kicks off at home against Rosholt, a newcomer to eight-man football. It’s a chance for the Thundercatz to set the tone early and prove they’re ready to challenge for a conference title.
