SHAWANO, WI – A mission that began with a simple goal of bringing women together to give back has blossomed into a powerful force for good in Shawano. The 100+ Women Who Care, Shawano County celebrated a major milestone this week: surpassing $300,000 in donations to local nonprofits since the group began.
The organization follows the nationwide model of a “giving circle,” where women unite to make a collective impact. “It’s a giving circle,” said Wendy Crawford, a community volunteer. “The 100+ Women Who Care organization exists all across the country with the idea that you create a giving circle. And initially, our goal was to recruit 100 women who would donate $100 once a quarter.”
That vision has grown into something much larger, both in numbers and in impact. Jeanne Cronce, one of the group’s original members and a former steering committee member, reflected on the journey. “We’ve had a lot of challenges along the way, but also a lot of victories,” she said. “We did it all for the good of the cause.”
The group’s milestone was celebrated with a special event featuring music, community recognition, and the presentation of checks to their latest nonprofit recipients. As the donations grow, so does the group’s dedication to making a difference, proving that when women unite for a cause, the impact can be life-changing.
