SHAWANO, WI – An 18-year-old man is facing multiple felony charges following a high-speed crash that killed one teenager and seriously injured another in the Town of Seneca.
Collyn Jorgenson has been charged with first-degree reckless homicide, first-degree reckless injury, and obstruction, after prosecutors say he was driving over 100 miles per hour before losing control of his vehicle on June 19. The crash sent the car airborne for more than 100 feet before landing on its roof. A 14-year-old passenger died at the scene, and a 15-year-old was injured.
Investigators say Jorgenson initially claimed someone else was driving. A judge has set his bond at $80,000, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for August 11.
In addition to the felony charges, Jorgenson faces 14 citations, including unsafe lane deviation, failure to control the vehicle, and violating Wisconsin’s absolute sobriety law.
