STEVENS POINT, WI – The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) has recognized 39 high schools across the state as recipients of the 2024-25 Award of Excellence, celebrating outstanding achievement in sportsmanship, ethics, leadership, and character.
The annual award is presented to schools that demonstrate a consistent commitment to positive school culture through athletic programs. To qualify, schools must meet specific criteria that include administrative leadership, coach and athlete conduct, student engagement in sportsmanship, and accurate reporting of participation data.
Of the 39 schools honored this year, 28 are repeat recipients, while 11 schools are receiving the award for the first time. First-time recipients include: Adams-Friendship, Barron, Dodgeville, Frederic, Greenfield, Hartford, Janesville Parker, Lakeside Lutheran, Regis, Sheboygan Christian, and Sturgeon Bay.
Brookwood, Divine Savior Holy Angels, and Kimberly lead the way with seven awards in the nine-year history of the program, while Beaver Dam, Germantown, Lake Mills, Hortonville, and others have earned the distinction six times.
Award presentations will take place during each school’s respective Area Meeting in September. Honorees will also be recognized on the WIAA website, in State Tournament programs, the WIAA Bulletin, and at the 2026 Annual Meeting.
