It was a steady day for Shawano police with a mix of public safety calls, vehicle issues, and community assistance.
The day began with officers responding to a traffic hazard involving an oversized load near North Airport Drive and East Green Bay Street. The 16-foot-wide vehicle caused brief delays but moved on without incident.
In a more serious report, a woman at the Shawano County Jail reported her car missing, prompting a theft investigation. Officers are now working to track down the vehicle, which has not yet been located.
Animal welfare was also a concern. A caller spotted a dog left alone in a car at the Shawano Civic Center. The window was cracked, but the dog appeared distressed. Officers responded quickly, and the situation is under review.
Later that morning, a man was arrested on a probation violation warrant at the AmeriVu Inn & Suites. Officers transported him to the county jail without further issue.
Meanwhile, officers responded to a stuck electric wheelchair near Sacred Heart Church, helping a woman return safely to her nearby apartment.
And just before 10 p.m., police investigated a report of reckless driving, with a vehicle traveling the wrong way on Airport Drive. The suspect fled the area, and the case was turned over to the sheriff’s department.
Clintonville Police Officers remained active throughout the night and into the morning, conducting numerous business checks, particularly along Main Street and County Highway I, to ensure local properties remained secure.
Police also performed extra patrols at local parks, including Pickerel Point and Picnic Point, maintaining a visible presence to deter overnight disturbances.
The department responded to two ambulance calls and provided citizen assistance in a pair of separate incidents. Officers were also dispatched to resolve utility problems affecting residents.
Additionally, police handled traffic stops, a vehicle lockout, and a welfare check. A single 911 call and a suspicious activity report rounded out the day’s responses.
Shawano County Deputies logged a total of 39 incidents over the past 24 hours, covering a range of calls from traffic complaints to suspicious activity and public safety concerns.
The day began just after midnight with a weapons complaint on Oakwood Drive in the Town of Wescott. A caller reported hearing gunshots and even claimed a bullet whizzed by. No injuries were reported, but deputies checked the area thoroughly.
Later that morning, a disturbance was reported at a trailer lot in Cecil, followed by a reckless driving incident on Highway 29, where a red Chevy was reportedly swerving between lanes. Another driver was cited for dangerous behavior just west of Pulaski.
Deputies also handled several animal-related issues, including a dog bite reported at Prevea Clinic in Pulaski, and a complaint about someone allegedly trapping and abandoning cats.
In a disturbing case, a woman reported being scammed out of $32,000 after wiring money for an RV she purchased online that was never delivered.
Meanwhile, a suspicious situation in Wittenberg involved a blood-covered pry bar discovered near an antique shop. Deputies responded and are investigating.
Several welfare checks were conducted throughout the day, including one involving a custody dispute tied to a court order requiring two children to be returned to Texas.
And at the North Star Casino in Gresham, a man was caught attempting to use a counterfeit $2 bill—security turned the evidence over to authorities.
