Shawano Police were busy over the weekend, responding to a wide range of calls throughout the city.
Early Sunday morning, a person was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant near East Division Street. Officers confirmed the individual’s identity and made the arrest without incident.
Later in the morning, ThedaCare Medical Center reported a 16-year-old girl left the hospital without permission. Officers were dispatched to attempt to locate her. Her status remains unknown.
Just before noon, a wallet was found hidden in a garage wall on East Richmond Street. Police are following up on the names inside.
Also Sunday, a welfare check was conducted after a neighbor reported a dog left barking outside for over two hours. Officers confirmed the elderly resident was safe.
The most dramatic incident occurred just after 6 p.m. when a vehicle caught fire at the Kwik Trip on East Green Bay Street. Multiple fire and police units responded quickly, extinguishing the blaze. No injuries were reported.
And in the evening, fireworks complaints, reckless driving reports, and a minor crash involving a trailer near West Wescott Avenue rounded out a busy day for Shawano authorities.
Clintonville Police were on the move overnight, conducting welfare checks and increased patrols to keep neighborhoods safe. Just after midnight, officers responded to a welfare concern on 9th Street, ensuring the well-being of a resident.
In the early morning hours, officers performed extra patrols around Pickerel Point Playground and Picnic Point, maintaining a visible presence to deter any disturbances.
Several business checks were also conducted throughout the city, including stops along Main and Paulina Streets, as officers ensured storefronts were secure after hours.
And later in the day, police responded to a variety of community calls, continuing their commitment to public safety.
It was a busy day for Shawano County deputies, with 34 incidents ranging from traffic hazards to criminal mischief.
Overnight, deputies responded to a tip about underage drinking at North Star Casino. A caller reported an 18-year-old was on the casino floor using a fake ID. The case was closed, but details are being reviewed by authorities.
Just after 7:00 a.m., a bizarre act of vandalism occurred in Birnamwood. A mailbox at a local Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall was reportedly blown up. Another case in Seymour involved a damaged mailbox and a suspect reportedly sleeping nearby.
Around mid-morning, deputies picked up a wanted man, near County Road D. Authorities say the man cooperated and made arrangements to remove his vehicle from the area.
Throughout the day, deputies handled multiple reckless driving calls, including a driver swerving and holding up traffic on Highway 29, and another speeding on Highway 45.
And in Pulaski, a man reported his estranged son stole his dog while visiting to collect belongings. Deputies are following up on the unusual theft.
More traffic crashes, 911 hang-ups, and welfare checks rounded out the day, with all incidents handled without major injuries.
