SHAWANO, WI – As families prepare for the back-to-school season, the Shawano-Menominee Counties Health Department is reminding parents that school supplies aren’t the only items to check off their list, up-to-date vaccinations are just as important.
Nick Mau, Health Director for Shawano-Menominee Counties, says the clinic is ready to help. “All school vaccines that are required for school, we can provide those for free for families who are uninsured, children on Medicaid or BadgerCare, or those who are American Indian or Alaska Native,” Mau explained.
Among this year’s requirements is the meningococcal vaccine, which is now mandated for students entering seventh grade, with a booster dose recommended for twelfth graders.
Mau encouraged families to reach out for more information or to make an appointment. “Feel free to give us a call or visit our Facebook,” he said. “All of our contact information is on there.”
To schedule an appointment or learn more about back-to-school vaccinations, families can contact the Shawano-Menominee Counties Health Department directly.
