Shawano Police were busy Monday with a range of calls, from animal rescues to criminal investigations.
Early in the morning, a deer was reported alive but injured at County Road B and Waukechon Street after being struck by a vehicle. Officers responded but it’s unclear if the animal had to be euthanized.
Later, two dogs running loose near West 1st and North Lafayette chased a jogger. Police located the animals but did not report injuries.
There was a reported drug deal near Memorial Park just before 11 a.m. A caller witnessed a male talking urgently on the phone near the concession stand. Though the suspects were gone when officers arrived, concerns remain about possible discarded substances in the area.
Officers also responded to a welfare check on South Maiden Lane after a woman hadn’t been seen in weeks, and a separate assist call where a resident fell and couldn’t get up. Both situations ended without incident.
A stolen golf bag was reported from South River Street, and another caller reported an attempted vehicle break-in by two juveniles around 2 a.m.
Later in the evening, police arrested a man on a warrant near East Center and South Andrews Street. Around the same time, a group of juveniles allegedly damaged an air conditioner unit behind Family Dollar by jumping on it. No camera footage was available.
Other incidents included a car in a ditch, a found cell phone, noise complaints, and a stolen vehicle on East Richmond Street.
No injuries were reported in a minor crash involving a Shawano ambulance.
Clintonville Police were active throughout Monday, conducting routine patrols and responding to various incidents across the city.
Officers carried out multiple business checks overnight, with locations on South Main, North Main, and County Highway I. Extra patrols were also completed in public areas including Picnic Point, Pickerel Point Playground, and East 12th Street.
The day began with a traffic incident at 7th and Pershing just after 5:30 a.m., followed by several traffic stops throughout the morning and afternoon—particularly near Highway 45 and County Highway C, and at 7th Street and Klemp Road.
Police responded to two 911 calls, one on South Main and another on North Clinton Avenue. A lockout was reported on North Main, and a suspicious activity call came in from South Main later in the day.
Two lost and found cases were logged—one on Robert Street and another on South Clinton Avenue. Additionally, a disabled vehicle was reported on East Morning Glory Drive.
The day wrapped up with extra patrols near West 13th Street and Memorial Circle.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office responded to 46 incidents on Monday, with several involving public safety and property crimes.
In Wittenberg, deputies are investigating the theft of a vehicle reported just before 6 a.m. on Norway Pine Lane. The vehicle owner, confirmed the incident, and authorities are continuing the investigation.
A short time later, a welfare check in Bonduel led officers to a Kwik Trip where a person was found unresponsive inside a vehicle with a broken window. Officers ensured the person was safe, and the scene was cleared.
Elsewhere in Tigerton, disorderly conduct was reported after a woman allegedly entered a residence and struck a dog with a shoe. The suspect left the scene before deputies arrived.
Two separate harassment complaints were logged: one in Birnamwood involving ongoing family conflict, and another in Wittenberg where a resident reported persistent scam calls claiming he owed money.
And in Aniwa, witnesses reported a motorcyclist drinking from his saddlebag and staggering around. Deputies located the individual at Pleasant Lake Park and closed the case.
Lastly, deputies handled multiple reckless driving calls on Highway 29, including a semi unable to stay in its lane and a vehicle weaving into ditch lines, possibly involving drug use.
