SHAWANO, WI – Big things are taking flight at the Shawano Municipal Airport, with a major construction project underway and a new face taking the lead.
City officials say a brand-new hangar is currently being built, and it’s poised to raise the bar for future development on the airfield.
“We have a new hangar being constructed, a very nice hangar,” said Doug Engel, Secretary of the Shawano Airport Commission. “We’ve got some very nice hangars on the airport already, but this one is going to be the standard setter for the group.”
Alongside the facility upgrade, the airport is also welcoming new leadership. Kyle Hotvedt has been hired as the new airport manager, bringing fresh energy and oversight to daily operations and long-term planning.
The updates are part of ongoing efforts to modernize the airport and support increasing interest from private pilots, flying clubs, and regional aviation programs.
