MADISON, WI – The countdown to kickoff for the Fall 2025 high school football season in Wisconsin has officially begun, with the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) releasing a detailed schedule for both 11-player and 8-player football programs.
Coach Contact Ends Soon
The coaching contact period for both formats ends on Saturday, July 26, marking the final day for preseason communication before the official start of team activities.
Practice and Equipment Distribution
Teams will begin issuing equipment and holding their first official practices on Tuesday, August 5. Scrimmages may begin as early as August 13, setting the stage for full competition.
Season Opener
The first regular season games for both 11-player and 8-player football are slated for Thursday, August 21, ushering in a fresh season of rivalries, playoff chases, and championship dreams.
Playoff and Site Deadlines
Key administrative deadlines follow in October:

October 10: Final day to submit approved and shared/alternate playoff sites.

8-Player Football Playoff Dates
While the early rounds have yet to be finalized, the State Final for 8-player football is scheduled for November 15 at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School.
