MADISON, WI – Bob Hyland, the winningest coach in Wisconsin high school football history, will be honored for his extraordinary career as part of the 47th enshrinement into the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA) Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Marriott West in Middleton.
Hyland, who led St. Mary’s Springs in Fond du Lac to an unmatched legacy of success, is among 12 coaches selected for the prestigious 2026 WFCA Hall of Fame class. Known for his unmatched longevity, discipline, and ability to build a powerhouse program over decades, Hyland’s impact on high school football in Wisconsin is unrivaled. Under his leadership, St. Mary’s Springs captured multiple state titles and became a perennial contender in the WIAA playoffs.
In addition to the WFCA honor, Hyland will also be recognized nationally as an inductee into the National High School Athletic Coaches Association (NHSACA) Hall of Fame. He is one of only two Wisconsin coaches to receive that national distinction this year, joining Muskego’s Ken Krause.
Hyland’s storied career spans more than five decades, amassing over 500 wins and mentoring generations of student-athletes both on and off the field. His dedication to character, community, and consistency has earned him deep respect across the state.
The WFCA Hall of Fame banquet is open to the public. It will begin with a reception at 4:30 p.m., followed by dinner and the induction ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased online or by mailing payment to WFCA, PO Box 8, Poynette, WI 53955. After April 3, only a limited number of tickets will be available through Charna Kelsey (office@wifca.org).
Hyland’s enshrinement marks not just the celebration of a coaching career, but the legacy of a mentor whose impact extends far beyond the sidelines.
