Donald G. “Don” Raeder, age 82, of the Town of Wescott, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, July 9, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Don was born July 29, 1942, in Deer Creek, Wisconsin, a son of the late William H. and Lillie (Wolfgram) Raeder. He attended country schools. Following school, Don worked construction with his father. On December 21, 1968, he was united in marriage to the former Nancy Yeager at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. The couple lived and raised their family in the Town of Wescott. Don was employed at Michels Materials as an operator and happily retired in 2004. Following his retirement, he cared for his brothers. Don was a hard-working man, enjoyed tinkering with mechanical things, and a proud
union member. His wife preceded him in death on September 10, 2022.
Survivors include his five children. Kelly (Pete) Griesmann of the Town of Washington, Lisa (Jim) Watermolen of Freedom, Janie (Tim) Welch of the Town of Washington, Julie (Roy) Farley of DePere, and Dave (Amber Yurek) Raeder of Pulaski; grandchildren, Erika Welch, Tiffany (Curt) Allord, Brittany (Jeremy Blajeski) Welch, Timmy (Lisa Wopshel) Welch, Marissa (Jake) Riopelle, Travis (Kendall Bricco) Welch, Austin Raeder, Alex (Jadyn Radomski) Raeder, Mikey (Danielle Smolen) Raeder, Brock Welch, Maycie Raeder, Isaiah Mills, Ilias Mills, Tony Carter, and Brandon (Cayla) Farley; his great-grandchildren, Leila, Alayia, Akyra, Senika, Brooklynn, Walter, Mhylei, Tinisa, Dominic, Autumn, Carson, Kyson, Owen, Elli, Colton, and Lahela; his brother-in-law, Rick (JoAnne) Yeager of Shawano; and sister-in-law, Cindy Yeager of Shawano. Don is further survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Vernon, Victor, Raymond, Norman, Leland, and Gordon “Sarge”; two sisters, Caroline Truettner and Pearl Wilbur; and one grandson, Tyler Welch.
A funeral service for Donald G. Raeder will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Mickelson Funeral Service in Shawano. Pastor Andrew Zobel will officiate. Burial will take place at Lake Drive Cemetery, Town of Wescott.
Visitation will begin at the funeral home on Thursday at 10:00 am until the hour of service.
