The Shawano Police Department responded to a variety of calls throughout the day — including welfare checks, suspicious activity, and medical assists.
Around 4 a.m., officers were dispatched to South Weed Street after a caller reported a woman in a yellow hoodie sitting outside with luggage and a dog. She refused to leave when asked by a resident. Police responded and addressed the situation.
Later in the morning, officers conducted a welfare check on a woman who had posted alarming messages on social media, including suicidal threats. Responders were able to locate her and ensure her safety.
By mid-afternoon, police and EMS responded to multiple medical calls, including a report of abdominal pain at a Picnic Street apartment and a sick male at Oak Drive.
At 4 p.m., an auto theft was reported on River Heights, where a man claimed his stepson took his vehicle without permission. Officers are investigating the situation.
And at Riverside Park, four young boys were reported for setting off bottle rockets from a dock. Police arrived and issued warnings.
Other notable incidents included a passed-out man behind a gas station, a 911 hang-up from American Marine, a parking complaint on South Lutz, and a roadside welfare check involving two young girls spotted near IHOP.
Police also handled several suspicious person reports, including a man pacing near Bartlett Street and a late-night incident on Franklin Street.
No injuries were reported in these incidents, and all are currently being reviewed or resolved by local authorities.
Clintonville Police Department reported Officers responded to a variety of calls throughout the day, starting with a business check on Industrial Avenue just after midnight. Early morning saw several traffic stops, including one on Highway 22 and Commercial Avenue around 7:20 a.m. A lost and found report came in shortly after on East Morning Glory Drive, and paramedics were dispatched to McKinley Avenue for a medical call.
Midday incidents included a traffic hazard at South Main and West Madison, and a vehicle lockout on Flora Way. Officers also assisted other agencies on Highway 45 and responded to a disabled vehicle on West Green Tree Road around 4:20 p.m.
Evening hours brought continued traffic enforcement with stops on North Main and 12th Street. Extra patrols were conducted at several locations, including East 12th Street, Hemlock Street, and Memorial Circle.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office responded to 33 incidents yesterday, ranging from traffic accidents to suspicious vehicles and animal complaints.
Among the early calls, deputies were alerted to a suspicious gray van with Iowa plates traveling slowly along Highway 29. The report noted children in the back wearing hooded sweatshirts. Deputies followed up, but found no criminal activity.
Two separate alarms at NAPA Hometown Auto in Wittenberg were investigated during the early morning hours. Both were false alarms, and the property was found secure.
In Tigerton, a white van near an elementary school raised concerns when a man was seen dumping something from the window before driving off. The call was cleared without further incident.
Several reckless driving complaints were reported across the county, including on Highway 22 near Cedar Lane and Highway 45 near Tigerton. One driver was identified from Waterford, WI who was reportedly speeding and weaving through traffic.
In another call, deputies were dispatched for a welfare check in Bonduel after a woman failed to return home and blocked a friend on social media. She was later located safely.
The Stockbridge-Munsee Police handled three incidents, including a suspected drug find at North Star Casino. Security discovered an unknown substance and turned it over to law enforcement for further investigation.
And finally, in Bonduel, deputies were called about a stray cow found wandering near Hilltop and Zachow Roads. The animal was identified and returned to its owner.
