CLINTONVILLE, WI – Playtime just became more inclusive in Clintonville, thanks to the opening of a brand-new ADA-accessible playground at Olen Park. The new space sits beside the existing playground and features equipment designed for children of all abilities, the first of its kind in the city.
The project was driven in large part by Lisa Hill, a local mother and founder of Down With Mylestones, an organization dedicated to creating inclusive spaces for children with disabilities. For Hill, the mission is deeply personal.
“Currently, I have a two-and-a-half-year-old with Down syndrome,” Hill said. “It’s really hard for him to play at any of the local parks, they’re just not safe. He is my passion and my why behind the project, but there are so many kids in Clintonville who can benefit from having an all-inclusive playground.”
The new playground includes ADA-approved equipment such as wheelchair-accessible features and supportive swings, giving children greater independence and safe access to play. It also includes elements specifically designed for children under school age, offering a welcoming space for families with younger kids.
With this addition, Clintonville now joins a growing number of communities committed to creating more inclusive, accessible public spaces where every child has the chance to play, explore, and thrive.
