SHAWANO, WI – The City of Shawano is taking the first steps toward purchasing a new fire truck, part of its long-term commitment to public safety and emergency readiness.
Fire trucks are typically on a 30-year rotation, and while the city is just beginning the planning process, the new vehicle is not expected to arrive until 2027 or 2028. Officials say the process is lengthy but necessary to ensure the department remains well-equipped.
Lesley Nemetz, City Clerk and Community Relations Coordinator, says this is all part of a broader strategy to stay ahead of equipment needs. “It takes a long time to get through that process, and so we’re just starting to work on it and talk about it,” Nemetz said. “But this is a key investment in public safety for our residents.”
Once delivered, the new fire truck will replace an aging vehicle in the fleet, helping Shawano maintain strong emergency response capabilities for years to come.
