MANAWA, WI – The Midwestern Rodeo and the greater Manawa community are mourning the loss of Peter Ziebell, longtime chairman of the Midwestern Rodeo and a beloved leader who dedicated years of service to an event and town he held close to his heart.
Ziebell, who passed away recently, was remembered by family, friends, and volunteers as a tireless worker, a servant leader, and a man guided by faith and patriotism. His motto, according to those who knew him best, was simple but powerful: “God, country, and Manawa Lions.”
His wife, Annette Ziebell, said Peter’s impact extended far beyond the rodeo arena. “He was a great guy. He cared about everyone,” she said. “His motto was God, country, and Manawa Lions.”
As chairman of the rodeo, Ziebell poured himself into the role, often working long hours and personally checking in with every volunteer. “He would always check-in with all of our volunteers, you know. ‘Is there anything you need that makes your job easier’” said his daughter, Rachel Holzschuh. “He’d come down here and he’d work seven days a week to make sure that all their volunteers had everything they needed.”
Peter Ziebell’s leadership helped make the Midwestern Rodeo one of the premier events in the region, but it was his humility, kindness, and selfless dedication that made him unforgettable.
