VILLAGE OF SURING, WI – The Village of Suring is making big plans to enhance local attractions, grow tourism, and make the community more inviting for residents of all ages.
Following a revitalization project meeting held Monday afternoon, Village Clerk and Treasurer Kim Gruetzmacher shared her optimism about what’s ahead. “I feel that the programs that we have developing are going to assist the village in growing not only businesses, but bring people into the village for tourism,” she said.
One of the central focuses of the revitalization effort is a major upgrade to Veterans Park. Plans include restoring the historic band shell, installing pickleball courts, and ensuring the park is fully ADA accessible. The improvements will be supported in part by a $609,000 grant from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
Village Board Trustee James Kohlwey also spoke about the broader vision for Suring, especially its appeal as a retirement community. “We have a philosophy and our Suring unchanging,” he said. Looking ahead, Kohlwey hopes to see greater community involvement. “I wanna see involvement of more young people,” he added, emphasizing that these projects are both immediate and long-term, with a timeline that stretches up to five years.
