BIRNAMWOOD, WI- As crowds gathered Sunday for the annual Shawano County Brunch on the Farm, 2024 Fairest of the Fair Lydia Rasmussen took a moment to reflect on a year she called “truly amazing.”
Rasmussen, who represented Shawano County at parades, farm visits, and the county fair, said the experience was especially meaningful as a lifelong local with deep roots in the dairy industry.
“Walking around the Shawano County Fair as Fairest of the Fair was such an incredible experience,” she said. “Getting to meet kids who had never seen a dairy cow before and sharing our community’s story made it really special.”
As her reign came to a close, Rasmussen admitted the moment was bittersweet. “I had a couple tears when I put on my tiara,” she said with a smile, “but I’m so excited for the next Fairest and I wish her the best of luck.”
The new Shawano County Fairest of the Fair was set to be crowned later in the day.
