BIRNAMWOOD, WI- Sunny skies, soaring temps, and a whole lot of dairy pride brought out an estimated 3,000 visitors to this year’s Shawano County Brunch on the Farm, held Sunday at the Olsen Family Dairy Farm.
The annual event once again proved to be a local favorite, offering families a chance to experience farm life up close while enjoying a hearty breakfast, wagon rides, and plenty of Wisconsin-made treats.
“It’s always a little bit of a challenge to keep track of how many people are coming and going,” Bob Krause, Shawano Ag Society Member said, “but the official count landed right around 3,000.” Nearly 2,000 visitors hopped aboard the popular wagon tours to get a behind-the-scenes look at the Olsen farm’s dairy operation.
And when it came to sweet treats, the event didn’t disappoint. While the final tally wasn’t available, organizers noted that two full freezers of ice cream were nearly emptied by the end of the day, only a few pails were left to take home.
“It was warm, awfully warm, but we were prepared,” Krause said. “We had plenty of water, lots of ice, and a great crowd.”
The success of the day wouldn’t have been possible without community support. Over 300 volunteers pitched in to make the event run smoothly, and the Olsen family received special thanks for opening their farm to the public.
“They’re a great family and we can’t thank them enough. It was a great event, start to finish.”
