Shawano police responded to over two dozen incidents yesterday, ranging from juvenile drinking to welfare checks and suspicious activity.
Just after midnight, officers were called to Off The Rails Bar on East Green Bay Street following reports of underage drinking. The caller hung up, but officers made contact with the business owner. That investigation is ongoing.
Later in the early morning, a theft was reported at Pizza Hut on East Green Bay Street. The complainant met officers at the sheriff’s office lobby. No arrests have been announced.
Around 12:30 PM, a stray black dog without tags was brought into a home on Fairview Way. The animal was safely returned to its owner within 20 minutes.
One of the day’s most resource-heavy calls came from a gas station at 404 East Green Bay Street. Staff reported smoke coming from the ceiling. Multiple fire units responded and remained on scene for over an hour. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.
Officers also responded to several welfare checks involving a homeless woman, who was seen at various locations throughout the day—reportedly acting erratically near Memorial Park.
Other notable calls included reckless driving on South Main Street, a suspicious vehicle outside the Odisha House of Rest, and a man reportedly passed out on the sidewalk with a head injury near East Division Street.
And finally, early this morning, officers were dispatched to ThedaCare Medical Center where a man reportedly threatened a doctor. Police were able to de-escalate the situation, and the man agreed to medical treatment.
Clintonville Police were kept busy over the weekend, responding to a range of calls throughout the city.
The day began early with a traffic stop around 2:30 a.m. at South Main Street and County Highway I, followed by routine business checks on South Main just before 4 a.m.
Around 6 a.m., a hit-and-run was reported on Highway 45. Police also conducted extra patrols on Rohrer Street and later in the day on 16th Street and Memorial Circle.
Emergency responders were dispatched to multiple ambulance calls, including South Main Street, Franklin Street, North 12th Street, and 7th Street—spanning from morning into the evening.
Suspicious activity was investigated at Memorial Circle in the morning and later on Robert Street around 6:40 p.m.
An ordinance violation was reported just before midnight near 8th Street and South Main.
Authorities continue to investigate several incidents, including the hit-and-run, and remind residents to report suspicious activity.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office responded to 45 incidents, in a day marked by traffic accidents, thefts, and welfare checks.
Among the most serious incidents were multiple traffic collisions, including two injury crashes near Highway 29 and County Road Q in Wittenberg around 3:30 p.m. At least two individuals were injured in those back-to-back incidents. Another crash involving a 1970 orange Chevy pickup that blew a tire occurred on Highway 47, sending the vehicle into a ditch—thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Deputies also investigated three property thefts, including a burglary at a Shawano residence where prescription medication was taken, a wallet stolen from a room at a Birnamwood property, and a theft involving tools and vehicle damage on Belle Plaine Avenue.
In a bizarre midday report, a pedestrian tossed belongings into a Good Samaritan’s vehicle and then fled into nearby woods off Highway 29. That case remains active.
There were three reckless driving complaints, including one report of a suspected drunk driver in a red Kia Soul heading toward Keshena and another driver “all over the road” on Lake Drive.
On the lighter side, deputies were called to deal with a pair of stray goats wandering into a Shawano yard—believed to belong to a nearby neighbor.
Other calls included welfare checks, traffic hazards from buckling roads and fallen trees, and noise complaints.
The Stockbridge-Munsee Police Department handled four calls, including a theft, a fire assist, and a non-reportable traffic crash on Camp 14 Road.
