Shawano Police responded to a variety of incidents throughout the city on June 18th, from welfare checks to drug offenses and everything in between.
The day began with a welfare check around 9:48 a.m. at a residence on South Maiden Lane, where a man was reported lying in the street and yelling. Officers arrived swiftly, and the situation was resolved without injury.
Later that morning, an Apple Watch was found at Martzke Sports Park and returned to its owner, while a minor vehicle collision outside the Shawano Food Pantry resulted in no injuries.
At Shawano Middle School, officers responded to reports of a stray dog chasing children on the playground. The animal was safely secured without incident.
A significant call came just before 2 p.m. at a Kwik Trip on East Green Bay Street, where a man was found asleep behind the wheel. Officers and EMS responded, suspecting possible intoxication.
That afternoon, a van stalled on train tracks at Waukechon and Richmond Streets, prompting a multi-unit response. Fortunately, the vehicle was moved before any danger developed.
Evening hours saw a range of activity, including a drug-related investigation, a report of illegal burning near South Sawyer Street, and a disturbance on West 4th Street involving multiple units and emergency services. Details remain under investigation.
Police also handled a harassment complaint, a fraud case, and multiple disabled vehicles, one of which was monitored near County B late into the night.
All incidents were handled professionally, and no serious injuries were reported.
Clintonville Police kept a steady watch over the city on June 18th, conducting multiple extra patrols throughout the day. Locations included Pickerel Point Playground, Picnic Point, Rohrer Street, and Memorial Circle — all part of ongoing efforts to ensure public safety.
In the early morning hours, a series of business checks were performed along South Main and Paulina Street, confirming all was secure.
Officers also handled a variety of incidents: A lost item was recovered on Auto Street around 7 a.m., and a report of suspicious activity came in from SSGT Warren Hansen Drive just after 8:30.
A theft was reported on South Clinton Avenue at 1 p.m., and a vehicle lockout was resolved on South Main Street shortly after.
Throughout the afternoon and evening, police responded to a stray animal on Brix Street and conducted four traffic stops, including one near Highway 45 and Reinke Road.
No arrests or injuries were reported, and all incidents remain under routine review.
Shawano County Sheriff’s Reported The day began just after midnight with an OWI arrest at West 2nd and North Washington Street in Shawano. Deputies took the driver into custody, with a passenger identified on scene.
A series of 911 calls followed throughout the day. At 12:38 p.m., a Shawano resident reported ongoing intrusions in her home. Officers confirmed they’d previously assisted with setting up surveillance cameras.
Reckless driving was a persistent issue. Five separate incidents were reported between 12:45 and 4:00 p.m., including a motorcycle clocked at 140 miles per hour on Highway 29, and another report of a driver weaving between lanes and hitting rumble strips.
In Cecil, a minor traffic accident occurred at 2:38 p.m. when a vehicle backed into another while giving space to a turning semi.
Later in the evening, animal and traffic hazards added to the workload — including a snapping turtle laying eggs near the road in Wittenberg, and a large piece of metal on Highway 45 near the Ho-Chunk Casino.
The Shawano County Jail also reported an incident of property damage at 10:30 p.m., where an inmate, reportedly broke a tablet.
Meanwhile, Stockbridge-Munsee officers responded to a vehicle lockout, a disabled vehicle, and an ATV disturbance involving a dirt bike with a loud muffler allegedly being driven recklessly.
No injuries were reported in these incidents. Authorities continue to investigate several open cases, particularly related to reckless driving.
