A busy Tuesday for the Shawano Police Department as officers responded to a wide range of incidents across the city.
The day began with a minor traffic mishap at Kwik Trip on East Green Bay Street. A driver backing out of a parking spot struck a red GMC Sierra. Thankfully, the accident was non-reportable and no injuries were reported.
Just after 9 a.m., officers were called to assist with a reckless driver reportedly swerving on County Trunk M. Deputies from the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office joined the search for a tan Chevy Impala or Malibu.
Shortly after, dispatchers received two 911 hang-up calls—one near South Andrews Street and another on West 3rd Street. Both were checked out and cleared without incident.
At the same time, officers dealt with two stray dogs near Riverside Park. The chocolate lab and a smaller companion were safely secured.
By mid-morning, emergency crews responded to a medical call near East 5th and Main Street. The individual involved declined ambulance transport.
Other incidents throughout the day included reports of reckless driving near Highview Avenue, several welfare checks—including one involving children with a baby crossing a busy street—and a disturbing call where a woman was reportedly hit by a car outside Kwik Trip. She was treated on scene and is expected to recover.
The evening saw a mix of calls including an ATM alarm at CoVantage Credit Union, a public disturbance involving a man yelling at Walmart traffic, and a domestic dispute that escalated into threats at a local apartment complex.
Shawano officers also assisted with a found cellphone, panhandling concerns near Eberlein Park, and responded to a welfare check at IHOP after a panic alarm was triggered.
In total, over two dozen incidents were logged.
Clintonville Police were busy throughout the day with a string of business checks starting just after midnight, with patrols along Paulina Street, South Main, and 11th Street. These routine checks continued through early morning.
At 2:06 a.m., officers responded to a reported vehicle theft on South Main Street — an investigation is ongoing.
Later, calls ranged from a welfare check on Park Lane to ordinance violations on Pansy Circle, and a report of a stray animal near South Main and 6th.
Medical teams were dispatched for ambulance calls on Green Tree Road, Ridge Road, and Flora Way, while an animal bite was reported on North Main around 7 p.m.
Police also responded to reports of harassment on Coleus Court, a suspicious person on South Main, and a case of fraud on West Madison Street.
Officers increased visibility with extra patrols throughout the city, including Rohrer Street and Memorial Circle.
It was a busy Tuesday for law enforcement in Shawano County, Authorities conducted multiple welfare checks, including one early morning medical alarm in Marion where an elderly woman called for help but couldn’t be reached by phone. Another check involved a teen in Shawano who triggered location alerts from a cell phone safety service.
A significant response came just after 1 p.m. in Bowler for a death investigation. Deputies found a 78-year-old woman unresponsive after she failed to answer her door or phone. That investigation is ongoing.
In Shawano, a resident was scammed out of $1,200 after unknowingly accepting movie prop money for a vehicle sale. The buyer, known only as “Brian,” is now under investigation.
Deputies also responded to two reckless driving complaints, one involving a gray van swerving on Highway 22 and another with a woman reportedly weaving across County Road M. Both incidents are under investigation.
At least three warrants were served throughout the day, including one out-of-county pickup from Waupaca.
Elsewhere, a child in Cecil was treated after a raccoon bite, while emergency crews addressed a natural gas smell along Highway 29—fortunately, no evacuations were needed.
The Stockbridge-Munsee Police Department handled three calls, including a trespassing report at a vacation property in Gresham and a stolen vehicle in the Moh He Con Nuck area.
