SHAWANO, WI- As communities across the nation prepare for “No Kings Day” rallies on Saturday, a local event is scheduled to take place in downtown Shawano, joining a nationwide call to oppose what organizers describe as authoritarianism and threats to democratic institutions.
The Shawano event is taking place at 10:00am at Franklin Park, and expected to draw peaceful demonstrators to voice their concerns as part of the broader movement. Law enforcement is aware of the event and plans to monitor the situation to ensure it remains nonviolent.
“Peaceful protests are permitted,” said Shawano Police Chief Mike Musolff. “But if it turns into anything other than that, where law enforcement is being harassed or attacked, or property is vandalized, we will make arrests in those cases.”
Musolff emphasized the importance of civil discourse and respect during demonstrations. “If you want to protest anything, do so peacefully. Communicate your thoughts, express your opinions, but do not turn violent, do not attack anyone, and do not damage property,” he said.
Shawano officers will have a presence in the area throughout the event to ensure public safety and a peaceful atmosphere.
No Kings Day rallies are being held in various cities across the country on Saturday, with organizers urging communities to stand against political extremism and advocate for accountability and civil liberties.
