SHAWANO, WI- Two people were killed in a crash Friday afternoon at the intersection of Highways BE and B, just east of Shawano.
According to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the scene around 1:30 p.m. following reports of a two-vehicle collision.
Preliminary findings indicate that an SUV was attempting to make a left turn onto westbound Highway BE when it collided with an oncoming pickup truck traveling east. Investigators believe the SUV driver may not have seen the approaching truck.
The driver of the SUV, a 69-year-old woman, and her passenger, a 71-year-old man, were both pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup truck’s driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. No one else was in the truck.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims as the investigation continues.
