NEW LONDON, WI- A car crashed into First State Bank in New London earlier this week in what authorities are calling a minor accident with no injuries.
New London Police Chief Joshua Wilson confirmed the incident, saying the crash occurred when a driver’s foot slipped off the pedal, causing the vehicle to strike the building. No criminal charges were filed in connection with the incident.
“There were no injuries,” Chief Wilson said. “It was a minor foot-slipped-off-the-pedal type incident.”
Although damage was done to the bank’s structure, the extent of the repairs and any changes to bank operations are being handled internally. “I’ve heard rumors their lobby is closed, but I can’t confirm or deny that,” Wilson said, noting that the police department’s investigation has been completed.
The bank is expected to make adjustments as needed while they handle repairs.
