NEW LONDON, WI- A solemn rededication ceremony took place Monday morning at Taft Park in New London, as the community gathered to honor fallen service members during a Memorial Day tribute.
The event marked the official rededication of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Rock, which was recently relocated from its previous home in Memorial Park. The move was part of an effort to expand and enhance the Veterans Memorial at Taft Park.
The Vietnam tribute specifically honors 12 local soldiers who lost their lives during the Vietnam War. Surrounding panels at the site now recognize more than 1,100 veterans from the area who gave their lives in service, with representation from World War I and beyond.
City officials and veterans groups say the updated memorial offers a more visible and accessible location for reflection and remembrance.
