Police responded to a range of incidents across the city, beginning just after midnight. Officers were called to deliver a message to a woman on East Stevens Street regarding her son’s medical condition. The request came from Froedtert Hospital in Menomonee Falls.
A noise complaint on East Maurer Street around 12:45 a.m. led officers to a large bonfire gathering with loud music. No arrests were made, but the group was advised to quiet down.
At noon, police were called to the Family Dollar on South Main Street for a reported shoplifting. A customer allegedly stole press-on nails and left the scene in a gold Subaru. The case remains under investigation.
Around 4 p.m., a traffic incident in the Walmart parking lot left a silver Dodge Ram undrivable. The vehicle’s bumper was pushed into the tire. No injuries were reported.
And later that evening, police performed multiple welfare checks — including one involving a woman reportedly sending disturbing messages after mentioning a potential fight. Officers located her and ensured she was safe.
Other calls included vehicle lockouts, minor traffic collisions, lost property, and medical assists.
The Clintonville Police Department kept busy on Memorial Day, responding to over two dozen calls throughout the city.
The day began shortly after 1 a.m. with officers assisting the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office at County Highway O and Brandy Creek Road.
Police also investigated a business alarm on West Street just after 3 a.m., and increased patrols were requested on Walnut Street around 6 a.m.
Traffic enforcement was a major focus, with over ten traffic stops recorded throughout the day, including along South Main, West Madison, and North 12th Streets.
Officers also handled a suspicious activity report near Lincoln Avenue around 8 p.m., and responded to a mental health call on South Clinton Avenue late in the afternoon.
Other calls included a neighborhood dispute, a vehicle lockout, ordinance violations, and a couple of business assists.
It was a busy Memorial Day in Shawano County, with deputies responding to over 30 incidents across the region.
In the early morning hours, multiple traffic hazards were reported along Highway 29. At 1:22 a.m., an injured deer was found blocking the westbound lanes near mile marker 208. Later, at 4:36 a.m., a second carcass was spotted in the passing lane near North Broadway Road.
Around 2:30 a.m., deputies arrested a man from Wittenberg on Lake Drive for operating after revocation and other violations.
At 7:50 a.m. in Tigerton, a suspicious vehicle was found parked in the middle of Diem Road. A local resident discovered a young man sleeping inside who was reportedly incoherent.
In Cecil, two men claiming to help children with math were questioned after approaching residents with photos and unsolicited offers. Officers later cleared the situation, calling it suspicious but non-criminal.
There were three separate vehicle lockouts, including one at a Kwik Trip in Bonduel and another at an ATV park.
Later in the day, deputies responded to a reckless driving report on Highway 29 near the Brown County line. Witnesses described a grey sedan weaving at just 25 miles per hour.
And finally, a welfare check was conducted in Mattoon after a man was found passed out in a parked truck outside a market. The man was identified and assisted.
No major injuries were reported throughout the day.
