In Shawano, it was a busy Sunday for local law enforcement, with a wide range of incidents keeping officers on the move.
Early in the morning, Shawano officers assisted the Menominee Tribal Police with an uncooperative patient at ThedaCare Medical Center. That incident was quickly followed by a welfare check on South Lafayette Street, where a man reported his girlfriend may have overdosed on painkillers. Emergency crews responded and remained on scene for nearly an hour.
Later that morning, police responded to a car lockout near Lincoln School Apartments and then took a theft report from Memorial Park involving a woman. Officers also checked on an elderly man after a fall alert was triggered by a Lifeline device—he was located and assisted.
Another welfare check was requested by a concerned mother in Neenah, worried about her ex-husband’s behavior in Shawano. In a separate call, a DoorDash delivery turned into a theft report when a neighbor allegedly took an order and refused to answer the door.
One of the more serious calls came at 6:19 PM, when police were dispatched to a residence on Acorn Street for a death investigation. Multiple units, including emergency medical personnel, responded and remained on scene for over an hour and a half.
Other calls throughout the day included a suspected shoplifter at a local convenience store, a report of drug activity in Franklin Park, and an attempt to locate a possibly intoxicated driver heading south on Highway 47-55.
Police also addressed a pothole creating a traffic hazard, and a group of men dressed in black reportedly discharging a firearm near Kuckuk Park late Sunday night.
And just before 1 AM Monday, officers responded to a noise complaint on East Maurer Street, where a large group was found having a bonfire with loud music.
Clintonville Police had a steady stream of activity on Sunday, May 25th, with over twenty incidents logged throughout the day.
The day began just after 2 a.m. with two traffic stops—one at West Green Tree Road and North Main, followed by another on 10th and Mill Street. Later in the morning, an ambulance was dispatched to West Morning Glory Drive, and officers conducted extra patrols on Walnut Street.
By midday, police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on West 13th Street and a welfare check on Brix Street. Animal-related issues also kept officers busy, including a stray on South Main and a separate animal complaint later that afternoon.
Officers were also called for ordinance violations at Olen Park Road and assisted citizens on South Clinton Avenue. Suspicious activity resurfaced in the evening back on Morning Glory Drive.
Traffic enforcement remained a focus throughout the day and night, with more than eight stops between 6 p.m. and midnight, including multiple stops on Highway 45 near Hilltop Road.
The day concluded with another welfare check just before midnight on North 12th Street.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to 35 calls throughout the county, with incidents ranging from traffic hazards and thefts to reckless driving and welfare checks.
Early morning, deputies assisted fire crews at a home on Highway 55 near Seymour. A male caller, speaking Spanish, prompted the use of a translation service.
Just after 3 a.m., a vehicle was found in a ditch off Highway 29. No injuries were reported, but the driver was assisted by deputies.
Later, around 6:30 a.m., a black pickup with Michigan plates was discovered severely damaged on Woods Road in Shawano. The incident is under investigation as a hit-and-run.
In other notable calls—officers investigated two property thefts, one involving a stolen wallet and another including broken windows and missing belongings in Gresham.
Animal-related calls were frequent. Deputies removed a live injured deer from a ditch near Cecil and responded to reports of loose cattle on private property in Wittenberg.
There were multiple reckless driving complaints, including a red pickup in Birnamwood seen speeding repeatedly for over an hour.
In Wittenberg, deputies were called twice to the Ho-Chunk Casino—once for a lockout, and again for a disturbance involving a disruptive guest.
The day wrapped with a vehicle fire in Shawano, where neighbors reported hearing an engine revving for over 30 minutes before flames were spotted.
