It was a busy day for Shawano Police on May 21st, with officers responding to a wide variety of calls across the city.
The morning began with a welfare check at a residence on South Lutz Street after a Lifeline fall alert triggered no contact. Officers quickly accessed the home via a lockbox and found everything in order.
Just after 7:30 a.m., police were called to Shawano Community High School, where students set up tents blocking driveways near the stadium. The situation was resolved without incident. A short time later, the school again requested assistance—this time for a drug-related offense.
Another juvenile issue unfolded mid-morning at Olga Brener School, with officers responding to a student causing a disturbance. That case was quickly brought under control.
Meanwhile, a resident on Mulberry Court reported suspicious phone calls that left them feeling threatened. Officers documented the incident and are following up.
In other activity, police investigated a case of identity theft involving a fraudulent banking app, responded to a verbal disturbance between family members on Richmond Street, and assisted a woman retrieving belongings from a home on Alpine Drive.
Later in the evening, a welfare check on Engel Drive was prompted by concerns that a man was threatening to harm himself. Police were able to make contact and ensure the individual’s safety.
Shawano officers also handled a recovered bike, vehicle lockouts, and a reckless driving complaint near Kwik Trip on East Green Bay Street after midnight.
In Clintonville, local police responded to a full slate of incidents throughout the day
The day began shortly after 1:30 a.m. with a carbon monoxide alarm on Kratzke Road, followed by extra patrols at Pickerel Point Playground and Picnic Point to ensure community safety during the early hours.
By morning, a more serious call came in: a death investigation on East Morning Glory Drive at 8:48 a.m., now under review by authorities.
Two motor vehicle crashes occurred—one just before noon at West Green Tree Road and North 12th Street, and another on North Main Street in the early afternoon. No major injuries have been reported.
Officers assisted citizens on North Main and Waupaca Street and handled theft reports and traffic stops throughout the evening, including one just before midnight near North Main and East 14th Street.
Clintonville PD also responded to 911 hang-ups, a medical call on South Clinton Avenue, and conducted multiple business checks and extra patrols to keep the peace.
It was a busy day for the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department, responding to multiple calls ranging from suspicious activity to reckless driving and welfare checks.
In the early hours of the morning, deputies investigated a suspicious incident in Caroline just after 1:30 a.m., involving two individuals. The case was closed without further incident.
Just after 5 a.m., a traffic hazard was reported near Doc’s Harley-Davidson along Highway 29, and later, a property-damage-only accident occurred near Highway 22 and Lake Crest Drive.
Reckless drivers kept deputies on alert. Around 6:45 a.m., a man in a black Ford F-150 was reported driving aggressively near Lake Drive and Airport Drive in Shawano—yelling at other drivers and slamming on his brakes. Then, about an hour later, a vehicle was clocked near 100 mph on Highway 29.
Multiple welfare checks were conducted throughout the day. One particularly concerning call came from a mother on Springbrook Road who reported being threatened by her son in her bathroom.
There were also several 911 hang-up calls, including one traced near Highway 29 and County T, and another in the Town of Marion—both of which ended with no immediate threats found.
In the afternoon, deputies assisted Langlade and Waupaca County officers, and later responded to reports of aggressive dogs on Hiawatha Court.
And finally, Shawano County deputies transported an inmate from work release back to the main jail just before 8 p.m.
