The Shawano Police Department had a busy Tuesday, assisting neighboring counties, handling drug cases, and responding to multiple welfare checks and emergency calls.
Early in the morning, Shawano officers assisted Sawyer County deputies at an apartment on South Andrews Street. Later, the department coordinated with Menominee County during a high-risk operation where shots were reportedly fired during a search warrant. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. Closer to home, police responded to two welfare checks, one involving a person who may have been struck by a vehicle while biking. That individual received medical attention and is expected to recover. Officers also followed up on two drug investigations, including one at Shawano Middle School, where substances were processed as evidence.
In other calls, a domestic disturbance on South Union Street prompted a swift two-officer response, while threatening messages reported by a resident on Engel Drive are under investigation. Later, a hit-and-run was reported on South Evergreen Street involving a white BMW, and officers recovered a stolen iPad, later confirmed by its rightful owner.
The department also supported several school liaisons and responded to multiple 911 hang-ups, lockouts, and a reported fire issue.
It was a busy Tuesday for Clintonville Police, with over two dozen calls ranging from routine checks to emergency responses across the city. The day began early with multiple business checks along 7th, Hemlock, and South Main Streets, followed by extra patrols at Pickerel Point Playground and Picnic Point, aimed at maintaining overnight safety. Three ambulance calls were reported, two on North 12th Street and another on West Green Tree Road, including one connected to a mental health concern later that morning. Police responded to a theft on South Main Street just after 6 a.m., and later, a vehicle crash occurred at Golf Club Road and Kratzke Road, though no serious injuries were reported. Officers also handled a fire call on Green Tree Road in the early afternoon, along with a threat complaint and several citizen assists near South Clinton Avenue. By nightfall, extra patrols and a welfare check rounded out the day on North Clinton Avenue and Elm Street.
Shawano County Sheriff’s Department began their day just after midnight with a report of a suspicious person near a Wittenberg home on Rosenow Lane. A 72-year-old woman believed someone was peering into her bedroom window. Deputies responded, but the situation was cleared without further incident.
Shortly after, multiple welfare checks were conducted—including one triggered by a medical alert device in Bowler. In Wittenberg, a man reported someone outside his home, sparking another check. Thankfully, all parties were located safe.
In traffic news, deputies responded to five vehicle-related accidents, including a crash on Highway 29 involving an animal and a non-reportable crash in Bowler where the driver was briefly unresponsive after veering into woods. Fortunately, he regained consciousness before being transported.
Three reckless driving calls came in throughout the day. One driver in Cecil was reportedly attempting to run vehicles—including a semi—off the road. Deputies tracked the vehicle down but the driver fled before officers arrived.
There was also a domestic disturbance in Bowler around 6 PM, which was resolved without arrests, and several utility and public safety calls, including a smoldering tree leaning on power lines near Leopolis and downed lines reported near Tigerton.
Stockbridge-Munsee police assisted in the Bowler crash and also responded to a property-damage-only accident in Gresham.
