It was a busy day for Shawano Police on Sunday, May 18th, with multiple emergency calls across the city. The day began with a 911 call from Parkside Apartments just before 7 a.m. Officers responded, but details remain limited. Later, a potentially dangerous situation unfolded at Kwik Trip on East Green Bay Street. Staff reported a propane gas smell in the kitchen. Fire crews arrived quickly and cleared the scene after over an hour of investigation. Meanwhile, officers were dispatched to several disturbances throughout the day. A morning call at 426 South Main Street inv olved loud banging and yelling—neighbors heard someone shout “leave me alone.” Multiple units responded and the situation was resolved. Around 11:30 a.m., police were called to a disturbance on South Bartlett Street, where shouting and arguing were reported. Officers also investigated a theft at Walmart where a man allegedly stole a bookshelf unit. In another case, an anonymous complaint led police to Waukechon Street for reports of ongoing screaming. Officers were unable to identify the exact apartment involved. Police also responded to a welfare check for a seriously ill man with medical tubing, a 911 hang-up that turned out to be a misdial, and a disturbance at the city’s skatepark. Later in the day, officers assisted with stray animals, vehicle lockouts, and a deer in distress near Rusch Road. No major injuries were reported, and all calls remain under active or closed investigation.
Clintonville Police were active throughout the day, with officers logging multiple patrols, traffic stops, and emergency assists. Things started just after midnight with a stop on Highway 156. Officers continued routine business checks along South Main and County Highway I through the early morning hours. By 7:45 AM, a carbon monoxide alarm triggered a response on 10th Street, followed minutes later by an ambulance call on Anne Street. Officers returned there later for citizen assistance. Midday, a suspicious vehicle was reported near North Main and Green Tree Road. More activity followed with another assist on East Morning Glory Drive and added patrols in Olen Park and Memorial Circle. Multiple afternoon and evening traffic stops were conducted across the city — including South Main, North Main, and 20th Street. Finally, Clintonville police assisted the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office just before 10:30 PM on Highway 45.
Shawano County Sheriff’s Deputies had a full plate Sunday, with over 20 calls ranging from animal issues to dangerous driving and emergency assists. Just after 2:30 in the morning, officers responded to a fire assist on Sandy Lane in Shawano — no injuries reported. Reckless driving was a recurring issue — reports came in from multiple locations, including Cecil, Pulaski, and Tigerton. At least two individuals were stopped. Over in Seymour, a woman was treated at ThedaCare Appleton after a dog bite — the owner was identified and the incident was documented. A tense situation at the Shawano County Jail unfolded around 5:20 PM. An inmate became combative and threatened suicide. Deputies were able to de-escalate the situation and restrain the individual safely. In Marion, deputies chased down a stray sheep repeatedly running into the road — still no idea who owns it. Also on the roadways, deputies responded to multiple crashes, including a deer strike and a minor wreck that took out a stop sign near the Richmond Town Hall. And as always, 911 operators stayed busy — fielding hang-ups, misdials, and one call about a tangled phone cord that sparked a minor panic.
