
Shirley A. Hertz, age 96 of West Salem, formerly of Clintonville, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 13, 2025 at Mulder Health Care Center in West Salem.
Shirley Ann Heinz was born on March 9, 1929 as the daughter of the late Paul B. and Coletta (Spitzer) Heinz. She grew up in the Shawano area and graduated from Shawano High School in 1947. On October 25, 1947 Shirley was united in marriage to Howard Hertz at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church rectory in Shawano. The couple made their home in Clintonville where they were faithful members of St. Rose Catholic Church. Shirley worked for JC Penny in Clintonville as a Department Manager and also helped out on weekends and holidays at Wanta’s Floral in town. Shirley enjoyed meeting friends for her weekly bridge club games, playing the piano, and was a very artistic person. She especially loved working on paintings. Shirley also was a talented seamstress who was always making clothes for her family. She is now in the care of her Lord and reunited with Howard who preceded her in death in 2016.

Her Children: Steve Hertz, Mike (Dawn Erickson) Hertz, and Kathleen (Joe) Pavelski.
Son-in-law: Scott Laux, D.C.
Grandchildren: Jake (Amy) Hertz, Jesse (Mike Nelson) Hertz, Joe (Jennifer) Hintz, Jenelle (Tyler) Feltz, Annie (Ben) Waller, and Peri (Justin Pahnturat) Laux.
Numerous Great-Grandchildren.
A Sister-in-law: Mildred Heinz.
A Brother-in-law: Charles Leahn.
And numerous nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Paul B. and Coletta Heinz, husband Howard Hertz, daughter Barbara Laux, daughter-in-law Vicki Hertz, grandchildren Mathew Hintz and Nicolette Laux, her brother Paul R. Heinz, and by sisters Dorothy Leahn and Colette (David) Thompson.
Shirley’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday May 19, 2025 at 11am at the St. Rose Catholic Church in Clintonville with Fr. Simon Muriithi Minyati officiating. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery. The family will visit with relatives and friends during the luncheon at the St. Rose School basement following the cemetery. Shirley’s family would like to extend their appreciation to the entire staff of Rolling Hills, Mulders Health Care Center, and SW Wisconsin Mayo Clinic Hospice for their wonderful and attentive care of Shirley during her stay.
