West De Pere Invitational Track and Field Recap
BOYS:
The De Pere boys’ track team emerged victorious at the West De Pere Invitational, securing first place with 158.5 points, followed closely by West De Pere with 138 and Bay Port with 117. A number of standout performances led De Pere to victory, with their 1,600 relay team clocking in a time of 3:28.16, narrowly edging out West De Pere (3:29.93) and Hortonville (3:31.44). Ben Lemirand of West De Pere claimed first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.79 seconds, while his teammate Brock Story dominated the 200-meter (22.72) and 400-meter (50.67). In the field events, Connor Fontaine of De Pere shone in the shot put, taking first place with a throw of 57-9.5, and also claimed victory in the discus with a throw of 180-11.
GIRLS:
Hortonville triumphed in the girls’ competition, taking first place with 127 points, ahead of West De Pere (111.5) and Freedom (109). The Hortonville 3,200 relay team led the charge with a strong 9:55.87 finish, holding off Freedom (10:06.81) and Bay Port (10:12.34). Individual performances from Hannah Huza were key to Hortonville’s success as she won both the 800-meter (2:15.50) and the 1,600-meter (5:08.64). West De Pere’s Aubrey Kopling earned victories in the 200-meter (26.48) and the 400-meter (57.65), adding crucial points to their second-place finish. In the field events, Hortonville’s Eve Vosters excelled in the long jump, taking first with a leap of 16-8.25, while Madison Schaper from Freedom won the shot put with a throw of 37-4.
Shawano finished with 63 points, helped by Adalyn Barkley, who took first place in the triple jump with a distance of 35-0.5. The girls’ 800-meter relay team finished in first place with a time of 1:47.14, edging out Bay Port (1:49.37) and Hortonville (1:50.42).
