CLINTONVILLE, WI- After a stretch of rainy weather slowed planting across the region, Triple D Farm in Clintonville is finally getting back in the field.
“Yesterday, we were seeding alfalfa. I was putting alfalfa in the ground,” said Dave Viergutz of Triple D Farm. “And today, we’re gonna start soybeans.”
Viergutz said the farm is currently about four or five days to a week behind schedule due to the wet conditions.
“We’re backed up about four or five days—a week, somewhere in there,” he said. “It’ll catch up in a hurry if the weather stays the way it is.”
With clearer skies ahead, Viergutz is hopeful they can regain lost time and continue planting without further delays. Like many farmers in the area, he’s watching the forecast closely and staying ready to work as long as the fields allow.
