It was a busy day across Shawano with officers responding to over a dozen calls ranging from mental health crises to suspicious activity.
Just after midnight, a dramatic incident unfolded near County Trunk C and Nauman Road in Cecil. A woman reported her husband, was experiencing a mental health crisis and attempted to jump from their moving vehicle. Multiple units responded and assisted in transporting him safely for evaluation.
Later that night, Shawano officers assisted Menominee Tribal Police during a transfer following a vehicle pursuit. The subject, was brought to ThedaCare Shawano for treatment under police watch.
Around 8 a.m., a 911 open-line call led officers to Balsam Court, where two men were reportedly talking about a mailbox—fortunately, no emergency was found.
At 9:30, officers investigated a reported theft on South Lafayette Street—a mint green Coach purse was stolen from a vehicle, with identifying documents inside.
By midday, tensions escalated at an apartment on Estates Lane, where threatening messages linked to a prior child abuse investigation prompted police action.
Later, a welfare check was conducted after a woman was seen yelling into her phone in a public parking area. Officers also responded to multiple animal-related calls, including reports of dogs left in hot cars and a stray near Sturgeon Park.
That evening, a report of suspicious activity at a law firm on North Main Street raised alarms—a back door was found wide open, but officers cleared the scene.
The day ended with a final call around 3 a.m. on Aspen Court—residents reported someone repeatedly knocking on their door. Officers ensured the area was safe.
In Clintonville, police had a busy Wednesday with a mix of traffic enforcement, emergency responses, and community patrols.
Officers conducted over eight traffic stops throughout the day, starting just after midnight and continuing into the evening. Most stops occurred along North Main Street, 7th Street, and Clinton Avenue.
A DUI arrest was made around 4 a.m. on West Madison Street. Emergency responders were also dispatched to two separate ambulance calls, one on East Morning Glory Drive and another later in the day on Garfield Avenue.
In a more serious matter, a lewd and lascivious behavior complaint was filed on Harriet Street shortly before noon. That investigation remains active.
Police also increased patrols around schools and residential areas, including extra presence on Anne Street, 20th Street, and Memorial Circle. Multiple business checks were conducted overnight as part of routine security efforts.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office responded to over 25 incidents yesterday, ranging from routine traffic calls to more serious matters involving reckless driving and property disputes.
Early in the morning, deputies assisted a stranded driver on Highway 29 near Spruce, where a blown tire left an orange Dodge Dart disabled. Later, multiple traffic hazards were reported along the highway, including three separate deer collisions that occurred between 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in those accidents.
Littering complaints surged in the towns of Aniwa and Birnamwood. Deputies investigated illegal dumping, including abandoned tires and even a couch and refrigerator left in ditches.
There were also multiple reports of reckless driving—one involving a semi weaving in and out of lanes, and another where a man reported being followed after a heated exchange in a fast-food parking lot.
Deputies were called to two disturbances, one involving a welfare check after a bizarre claim about a terror plot. That incident was resolved without threat.
Finally, law enforcement responded to an alarm at the Pine Hills golf course and an open door next to a downtown Shawano bar, which raised suspicions of a possible break-in.
